Description
There’s a magical feeling to this shot. Despite the evidence of humanity (the stairs and railings) it also seems like a path on the edge of something special. Perhaps the building at the end of the path is a college building or dorm… perhaps not. But the wooded area makes it feel like it’s a place where people can retreat into solitude (by just straying a bit off the path). The light streaming through the trees is fantastic and makes it look like the path is edged by trees with glowing leaves (seems like you got this shot at exactly the right time). The golden glow is quite nice also. I dig the contrast between humanity (it seems that, despite the abandoned - look of this shot, this is a place that is often traveled) and wilderness. I can imagine all the little creatures scurrying about around here - squirrels, rabbits, birds.
This was taken quite some time ago, I see, and perhaps you no longer have opportunity to photograph this place. If you do, though… I would also love to see what it looks like beyond the path. A little ways-off, maybe. How evident is it that the path is even there when you go further in? Or is it a path that sort of “appears” as you happen upon it? This is such a fun place - thank you for getting such a great shot of it. Well done!
